Williams Reel 14 – Fairgrounds – Shell Station – Picnic

From the Williams Reels Collection, Reel 14 – Fairgrounds – Shell Station – Cookie, Meroe, and Shirley – Picnic. This starts with a horse drawn wagon from the E.R. Boliantz Co. pulling in to the Morrow County Fairgrounds in Mt. Gilead, Ohio in the mid 50’s. The Boliantz Co is an Ohio Meat packing company who still operates today in central Ohio. More traffic entering and exiting the fairgrounds. A few unidentified folks, then we see some footage of the Shell Station Bub worked at and later owned. It became a Gulf station soon after this film. The gas station is directly across from the entrance to the fairgrounds. Bub filmed a lot from there, but this is the only real footage of his station there is.

Bub’s mother, Geneva, is seen in a short clip trying to cross the street in what appears to be downtown Mt Gilead in front of the Rexall Drug Store.

The film ends with a Williams family picnic in the park. An interesting shot of peeling the instant photograph from an old black and white camera.
