From the Charles Barr reels, ca., 1949 or 1950. Charles and Rachael visit the nation’s capital and some of the local sites. Footage includes the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and Capitol Building. They visit the National Cathedral, Cottage Herb Garden, and Bishop’s Gardens and have dinner at the famous Herzog’s Seafood Restaurant. Some great footage of boats on the Potomac River. Then they travel across the Potomac to Mount Vernon, home of our nation’s first president, George Washington. Other sites include The George Washington Masonic National Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, USS Maine Memorial, The Arlington House, and even a peek at the front of the Pentagon from the observation point at the Arlington House.
